Integrated speciality

Digital processes, contracts and evidence require an integrated analysis of sources, mechanisms and timelines.

This speciality relates documents, authentication mechanisms, system records and timelines to understand how a digital process occurred. It does not automatically certify authenticity or authorship and does not replace the pages dedicated to each specific object.

In the first contact, do not send complete case files, personal or confidential documents, credentials or sensitive material.

When this speciality is relevant

An integrated view is useful when the question depends on the relationship between a document, platform, declared user, authentication, technical records and sequence of events, rather than a single file or indicator.

  • Contracts or documents whose formalisation is disputed
  • Divergences between files, platforms and records
  • Digital processes with incomplete timelines or conflicting versions
  • Electronic operations requiring correlation between different sources

Technical sources that may be analysed

The scope may combine digital documents, electronic contracts, signatures, platforms, files, metadata, timestamps, logs, audit trails, authentication journeys, electronic operations and system records. Each source is identified by origin, availability and limitations.

Authenticity, integrity, authorship and timeline

These concepts answer different questions. An IP address, phone number, email address or device, when considered in isolation, does not necessarily prove authorship. Authentication or biometrics require technical context, and an electronic signature must be analysed according to its mechanism, available evidence and the context of the event.

Preservation and chain of custody

Preservation documents origin, collection, transfers, storage, access and relevant transformations. A hash may allow verification that certain data remains consistent with a previously recorded reference within the preservation context under analysis; by itself, it does not establish authorship, identity, origin or intent.

Limits of digital evidence

The existence of a log does not automatically guarantee its truthfulness, completeness or attribution. An audit trail does not automatically establish civil identity, and a technical timeline does not by itself produce a legal conclusion. Findings, inferences, gaps and limitations must remain distinguishable.

Applications in digital contracts and processes

The speciality provides a combined reading for documentary disputes, electronic formalisation, transactions and other digital processes. The specific pages below examine their own objects in greater depth and are not replaced by this integrated view.

  • Digital documents and transformations
  • Contracts and formalisation journeys
  • Electronic signatures, certificates and authentication
  • Banking operations and disputed transactions
